Sex therapy: professional, private, and shame-free

Certified, doctoral-level care for desire, intimacy, and sexual wellbeing, for individuals and couples, delivered by secure video with complete discretion.

A Clinical Specialty, Not an Afterthought

Trained for the conversations most therapy avoids

Sexuality is one of the most common, and least discussed, sources of distress in adult life. My training includes certified sex therapy study and a Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology (in progress), which means these conversations are clinical ground I know well: unhurried, unembarrassed, and grounded in evidence.

🔥

Desire Discrepancy

The most common issue couples bring: one partner wants more, one wants less, and both feel rejected. There is a well-mapped clinical path through it.

🌙

Low or Lost Desire

When desire has gone quiet, from stress, hormones, medication, resentment, or years of autopilot, we find what dimmed it and rebuild deliberately.

😰

Sexual Anxiety & Performance

Performance worry, avoidance, and the spectator loop that pulls you out of your own body. Evidence-based tools, including hypnotherapy where useful, quiet the alarm.

🩺

Pain & Medical Factors

Painful sex, post-surgical or postpartum changes, illness, and medication effects, addressed psychologically while coordinating with your medical providers.

💔

After Betrayal or Trauma

Rebuilding sexual trust and safety after infidelity, or reclaiming intimacy after sexual trauma, paced carefully, with certified EMDR available for the trauma work itself.

🌈

Identity & Shame

Orientation, kink, faith-and-sexuality conflicts, and long-carried shame, met with cultural humility and zero judgment.

What sex therapy is (and isn’t)

It is talk therapy. Sex therapy is conversation-based psychotherapy, nothing physical happens in session, ever. We talk, assess, and build a plan; any practical exercises are private homework for you or you and your partner at home.

It is for individuals and couples. Some concerns are best worked on solo, others together. Many clients begin individually and later invite a partner in, or vice versa. Both doors are open.

It works alongside medical care. Where physical factors may play a role, pain, hormones, medication side effects, I coordinate with your physician or pelvic-floor specialist (with your consent) so the psychological and medical sides of the picture work together.

It integrates with the rest of my practice. Desire and intimacy struggles often travel with anxiety, trauma, body-image pain, or relationship conflict. Certified training in EMDR, hypnotherapy, and Gottman couples work means we can treat the whole pattern, not a slice of it.

💞

Is the relationship part of it?

When sexual disconnection lives inside broader relationship strain, sex therapy pairs naturally with structured couples work, same therapist, one coherent plan.

Common Questions

Sex therapy: FAQ

What actually happens in a sex therapy session?

Conversation, the same as any psychotherapy session. We talk about history, patterns, and goals, and build a plan. Nothing physical ever occurs in session; any practical exercises are private homework done at home, alone or with your partner.

Can I come alone, or does my partner need to join?

Either. Individual sex therapy is common and effective, and partners can join later if useful. Some couples alternate formats. We will choose what fits your situation in the consultation.

Is this covered by insurance?

My practice is private pay, and for sex therapy many clients prefer it that way: no diagnosis is required, and nothing about your sexual life enters an insurance record. Superbills are available on request, and EAP sessions through Lyra and Modern Health are accepted.

Is it awkward over video?

Most clients find the opposite: talking about sex from your own private space, rather than an unfamiliar office, lowers the barrier considerably. The platform is secure and HIPAA-compliant.

What are your qualifications for this work?

Certified sex therapy training, a Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology in progress, certification in clinical hypnotherapy, Gottman Level II couples training, and certified EMDR for trauma, alongside 11+ years of licensed practice. This is a clinical specialty, held to clinical standards.

You’ve carried this quietly long enough.

A free 15-minute consultation is a private, low-stakes way to start. You set the pace, and nothing is too awkward to say here.
